Green Screamer Does Classic Crunch
Guitarists are searching for a quality OD pedal that captures the essence of the best vintage pedals but delivers consistency and reliability. Enter the Green Screamer, designed by gearheads who (admittedly) have a fetish for the original '70s TS808, but wanted more. Along with consistency and reliability, there is flexibility. That's why so many players are getting turned on to the Green Screamer, from those looking for killer classic OD to monsters like Gus G. of Firewind and Ozzy.
Here the Green Screamer is doing what a well designed overdrive pedal is all about: adding new layers of texture and character to a good amp's tone. We start out with the classic Funk 49, followed by a modern crunch passage. In both examples, a Les Paul Standard is going through a '78 Marshall JMP. Note that the Marshall already has some crunch going and the Green Screamer is adding more, blending its own harmonics with additional harmonics coaxed from the Marshall as it's driven harder. We could have pushed it more, but we've chosen to keep the output level on the GS moderate so you can get more of the flavor of the interaction between the pedal and the amp. The tone is also dialed back to get that classic crunch with an even tonal balance, the kind of sound that powered some of the best rock riffs over the decades.
