BBE T2 (Telephone Technology) is a process that enhances the clarity of telephone sound, which is greatly limited by its narrow bandwidth, by progressively boosting the higher frequencies and compensating the phase alignment of the harmonics.

The new digital compression and multiplexing technologies in the telephone industry have dramatically improved its communication efficiency. But, unfortunately, the improvement was achieved by compromising sound quality immensely. Modern digital telephone sound is not necessarily as good as old analog sound. BBE T2 and its family products (BBE T2M, T2C, T2R), featuring BBE’s cutting edge technologies including the MP process, compressor/AGC and 2X over-sampling, effectively restores this degraded digital telephone sound. Such supporting technologies boost the BBE T2 performance to the optimum level, bringing the listener closer to its original clarity than any other telephone technology ever.

Improvements
Sound Clarity and Speech Intelligibility

MP Process (BBE T2M, T2R)
BBE T2M and T2R use the BBE MP (Minimized Polynomial Non-Linear Saturation) process. BBE MP works by generating harmonics from the source material, effectively recovering the details and warmth from the digitally compressed sound in cellular phones and long distance calls. BBE MP also corrects the time alignments of higher harmonics. The higher harmonics are proportionally advanced to the frequency. This combination process helps the brain to analyze and understand the sound more easily.

Compressor/Limiter/AGC (BBE T2C, T2R)
The BBE T2C and T2R apply the unique BBE Compressor/Limiter/AGC technology. This process automatically adjusts the audio volume to a desired level regardless the incoming signal fluctuation.

In addition to this, our unique compressor algorithm detects the possible “P” and “S” sound saturation performs “ducking” (reduces the gain for a short time) to avoid the saturation before it actually happens.

More about AGC
There are two types of AGCs. The regular and simpler AGC is referred to as “auto-volume” (or automatic volume control). It has a relatively short attack and very long release time-constants – as long as five seconds. It works in a wide dynamic range, but it exhibits obvious artifacts which are unacceptable in any hi-fi or critical applications.

The second type, the compressor-based AGC, has a shorter attack and release-time just like BBE compressor/AGC. It works very quickly and shows no artifacts. Its architecture is normally much more complex than the auto-volume type. BBE compressor/AGC employs a unique algorithm to simplify the whole process while maintaining its peak performance.

HI (Hearing Impaired) Mode
The HI mode in BBE T2 provides effective clarity enhancement for the hearing impaired without using an aggressive high frequency boost. HI mode adds an extra yet mild high-frequency boost combined with phase adjustment. The result is natural and clear sound for the hard of hearing.
